Noel Fisher As You’ve Never Seen Him

In 1984, the world was introduced to 4 skateboarding, pizza eating turtles who just so happened to have some mad ninja skills and were quick with the witty comebacks. Artists Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird initially introduced Michelangelo, Donatello, Raphael and Leonardo in comic book form before eventually landing their own cartoon series in 1987. By the time their first live-action full-length feature film released in 1990, children, including myself, were obsessed with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles or TMNT for short. I was, and still am, a sucker for Mikey.

tmnt-on-set-imageBy the time the third movie premiered Turtle Mania had slowed down to a crawl and from 2009 – 2012 the adventures of the Fab 4, their mentor Master Splinter, and favorite gal pal April O’Neil stopped altogether. That was however, until it was announced in 2010 that producer Michael Bay, in partnership with Paramount and Nickelodeon Studios, would be relaunching the film series with a new feature film.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles stars Megan Fox as April O’Neil, Johnny Knoxville, William Fichtner, Will Arnett, Tony Shalhoub, Danny Woodburn, Jeremy Howard, Pete Ploszek, Jeremy Howard, Alan Ritchson, Minae Noji, Whoopi Goldberg, Abbie Elliott and Shameless’ own Noel Fisher.

Fisher began filming the role of Michelangelo (did I mention he’s my favorite turtle?) between seasons 3 and 4 of Shameless. You may have noticed that Fisher looks nothing like a turtle, let alone a turtle with mad ninja skills and a wicked appetite for pizza. Turns out that little hiccup was nothing for today’s technology because Fisher, along with his 3 co-stars, filmed his role while wearing a motion-capture suit. So while Fisher may not be a more than 7-foot tall turtle he will look like one on the big screen. Luckily for us Shameless fans he also provided the voice for Michelangelo and trust me, you can tell that it is him.

Check out the 2nd Official Trailer for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles coming to the big screen on August 8th, 2014.
